1. Who We Are

UK Road Races (ukroadraces.co.uk) is a race calendar, results, and certificate platform covering road races, fun runs, and other running events across Lancashire and the North West of England. The site is independently developed and operated by Stuart Flynn, trading under the Kemset identity.

For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at shoestring360@gmail.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to provide the services on this site. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:

What you doInformation collected
Browsing the calendar or resultsNo personal data collected
Buying a race certificateEmail address, payment information (handled entirely by Stripe — see below)
Subscribing to the newsletterEmail address
Receiving a bulk/organiser-paid certificateEmail address, race number (provided to us by the race organiser)

Race results themselves (names, times, positions, club, category) are provided to us by race organisers for the purpose of publishing results, and are not "collected" from you directly through this website.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate and deliver your personalised race certificate
  • To send you the fortnightly newsletter, if you've subscribed
  • To process payments securely via Stripe
  • To respond to enquiries sent to us directly
  • To keep a record of certificate orders for support and refund purposes

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Third Parties We Share Data With

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the site. We only share the minimum data necessary with each:

  • Stripe — processes all certificate payments. We never see or store your card details; these are handled entirely by Stripe in line with their own privacy policy.
  • IONOS — our web hosting and email provider, used to send newsletter and certificate emails.

5. Payments & Certificates

When you purchase a race certificate, your email address and order details are stored so that you can re-download your certificate at any time using your unique download link. Card payment details are processed and stored exclusively by Stripe — we do not have access to, and do not store, your card number, expiry date, or CVC at any point.

6. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use a double opt-in process: you must click a confirmation link sent to your email before you start receiving updates. Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing immediately and permanently stops future emails — no login or account required.

7. Race Organiser Data (Bulk Certificates)

Some race organisers choose to provide UK Road Races with a list of finisher email addresses so that we can send free certificates to everyone who took part, paid for by the organiser. If you receive a certificate this way, your email address was supplied to us by the race organiser for this specific purpose. We do not add these addresses to our newsletter list, and they are used solely to deliver your certificate.

8. Cookies

This site uses minimal, strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function correctly (such as keeping you logged into the admin area, if applicable). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. How Long We Keep Data

  • Certificate orders — kept indefinitely so you can re-download your certificate at any time
  • Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe
  • Bulk certificate batches — kept for record-keeping with the race organiser

10. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data (subject to any legal requirement to retain payment records)
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at shoestring360@gmail.com.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including secure payment processing via Stripe and restricted access to our admin systems. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
